Advantages to Keystone's Interlocking Pin Connection System

Keystone® products incorporate high-strength, protruded fiberglass pins to align and interlock the blocks together.  This pin connection system results in a superior retaining wall system.  There are many advantages to the Keystone Pin Connection System such as:

  • The system is user friendly. The pins ease alignment and make construction simple and fast. Pins provide an obvious connection location and method for the installation contractor.
  • Unlike other retaining wall products, the Keystone® pinned system offers the choice of near vertical or 1" setback options.
  • The pin system allows you to achieve tight corners and radii automatically without having to cut units.
  • The Keystone® fiberglass pins provide additional shear strength at the wall face and a positive connection with geogrid for proper pre-tensioning and resistance to bulging during construction.
  • The pins maintain a positive mechanical connection between adjacent units as well as between units and geogrid soil reinforcement.
  • The pin connection system is designed to maintain a consistent running bond pattern for aesthetics and structural integrity.
  • Compared to other products that use plastic pins, Keystone® fiberglass pins are not affected by temperature changes.
  • The pins simplify quality control inspection for proper geogrid placement since the geogrid is placed securely in the correct position by hooking it over the pins.
